#197 THE GIRL (CITY & COLOUR COVER). pretty sure i’ve posted a cover of this as a weekend wave before, but this one is much better — i’m hoping, at least. just wanted to test the recording quality of my electric guitar (since i’ve never really used it), so i busted out a random cover.
sounds better than i could ever have hoped! honestly i thought i’d have a lot of trouble. don’t really know where this fear of using an electric guitar comes from — you’d think i was a luddite by the way i gingerly touch it, like i’m expecting it to go up in flames if i make a mistake. haha! hopefully i’ll get more and more used to it, though.
“I promise It’s possible to talk about the merits of a woman’s creative work without talking about how weird her hair is or how much her butt weighs. All it takes is retraining your brain to stop being a superficial dick.”—Erin Gibson, in “Pretty Funny (Minus the Funny)”
#196 SAY YES (ELLIOTT SMITH). could have sworn i’d already done this, but i guess i never did the whole song. this was a quick cover, so there’s not much shine and sparkle, but i think i did quite alright for just trying to remember how it went as i played.
really need to get a metronome. or get used to a click track. fuck.
"pop" is what i usually say when asked what kind of music i make, and inevitably people disagree — but can’t supply an alternative genre. so, over the years i’ve come up with some weird ways to describe the music that i (try to) make.
i think i’ll finally stick to these. they’re pretty much accurate.
